Description

Clearing Nut: Thetran kottai (Strychnos potatorum) dried seed. When you rub this seed on a hard stone with few drops of water, you will get paste. This paste has to be mixed in the water. This will help in settling down majority of the dust particles and reduces hardness of the water. The seeds of the tree are commonly used for purifying water. கலங்கல் நீரினைத் தூய்மைப்படுத்தும் திறன் தேற்றா எனப்படும் தேற்றாங்கொட்டைக்கு உண்டு என்பதே ஆகும். தேற்றான் கொட்டை உடலை தேற்றும் குணம் கொண்டதாலும், இந்நீரைத் தெளிய வைப்பதாலும் தேற்றான் என்று சொல்லப்படுகிறது. தேற்றாங் கொட்டை என்பதைப் பொடி செய்து கலங்கிய நீரில் போட்டால் அது தெளிந்துவிடும் என்பது சங்க காலம் முதல் இன்றுவரை பின்பற்றப் படுகிறது. பாட்டிலில் தண்ணீர் விற்பனைக்கு வரும் காலத்துக்கு முன்னரே சுத்தமான நீரைப் பெற இதைப் பயன்படுத்தினர்.
